Cold War Missile Sites

The following is a list of missile-related, and Cold War-related, sites that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmarks. The sites include locations of: missile development and testing; command, control, and communications systems related to these missile systems; launch locations of the missiles; and, the development and testing of the nuclear weapons and nuclear material which these Cold War missiles were designed to deliver.

Like most lists, this list may have left out some sites–any omissions are an oversight–if you know of sites that we are missing, please drop us a comment and we’ll add it to the list.

But keep in mind, that this list only includes properties that are on the National Register of Historic Places or designated as a National Historic Landmark. The names of the sites are listed below as they are listed in the National lists.

Like all properties, these properties are owned by different organizations and people. Like all properties, the owners of the properties control access to the sites. Some of the sites are open to the public; some are not–check before you visit.

The internet links provide some information on each of the sites–it’s a mixed-bag as far as the quality of the information.
